Revolt Against the City
40 x 30 Inches
Oil on Canvas
Denizens of Mount Pleasant; Brothers and Sisters of Vancouver: We must hold onto our treasured communities, united in art.
Inspired by Grant Wood's American Gothic, this piece addresses the fight against the current overtake of condos, concrete and contemporary city life. Vancouverites must hold onto their community and heritage spaces and put them to interesting and innovative work! The painting, displaying a sibling pair, depicts the historical James Black Residence, previously known as the Gropps Gallery Artist Residency and home to local hipsters and Emily Carr University kids for the last decade.
